Pathways to Progress Support

Job Ready Programme

 

  • Duration: Six weeks.

  • Format: Weekly group workshops and tutorials, with the option to book individual sessions with experts and attend Q&A sessions to clarify any doubts.

  • Location: It is offered mostly online, with the option to attend some events in person in Dublin.

  • Skills Development: Focuses on pre-employment skills, including CV writing, job interview preparation, communication with recruiters, Irish employment rights and work culture.

  • Outcome: Successful completion enhances the chances of finding work in Ireland and provides a completion certificate listing the acquired skills.

  • Additional Benefits: Participants will be linked with Open Doors member companies.

Mentorship Programme

  • Duration: Three to six months, to be agreed by mentor and mentee.

  • Format: Long-term support through six one-on-one online mentorship sessions with an experienced professional from an Open Doors member company.

  • Skills Development: Focuses on a broad range of aspects, such as defining career goals, identifying learning needs, building "job readiness" skills, expanding professional networks, and receiving guidance from professionals.

  • Goal Setting: Mentors assist in defining career goals, creating action plans, and providing professional advice for the mentee's career progression.

  • Training: Both mentors and mentees undergo mandatory training sessions before the programme begins, ensuring understanding of the programme's scope and commitment required.

  • Matching Process: Mentees are matched with mentors based on the mentee’s goals and the mentor’s experience.

Business English Course

We offer a free Business English course to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in partnership with AllTalk Training.

Students learn business English skills and cultural knowledge that are most often useful in the workplace in Ireland, such as:

  • Greetings and introductions in a professional context (incl. small talk and body language)
  • Writing professional business emails
  • Speaking up in meetings in English
  • Clarifying information
  • Answering and making phone calls in English
  • Communicating on video calls
  • Presenting data
  • Understanding indirect communication in Ireland

All students must be over 18 years of age and have an upper-intermediary (B2) level English, at a minimum.

Job Seeker Guidance

Our Job Seeker's Toolkit contains detailed guidance to help you get ready to enter the Irish job market, identify suitable opportunities, write your CV and prepare for job interviews. It also contains tips on how to avoid common mistakes and basic information about employment rights.

We also have a CV guide and a CV template, which should help you create a well-written CV that fits into what is expected in Ireland, while highlighting your strengths and helping you stand out from the crowd. The guide contains information about what a recruiter or hiring manager will expect to see on each section of your CV, practical tips for those with qualifications and experience from other countries, examples of what to include and not include, and much more.

Job Search Support

We offer individual, tailored guidance for job seekers in Ireland. This includes support with identifying career goals, creating a career plan, finding job opportunities, preparing job applications and getting ready for job interviews.

Career Skills

The Open Doors Initiative, through their partners, offers a free online tool that helps young people assess their career skills and gives them a language around these skills - communication skills, interpersonal skills, CV creation, job interview skills, among other things.

In person and online workshops for entrepreneurs and those interested in starting their own business in Ireland.

Entrepreneurship Course

12-week online course provided by TU Dublin for aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs. Students who complete the course are eligible to receive 5 ECTS credits, aligning with Level 6 of the National Framework of Qualifications.
